The magic jar
Long, long ago, there was a man who was very poor. One day, while the poor man was digging in the back yard, he came upon a huge jar in the ground. He dug around the jar"and"pulled it out of the ground. After that, the poor man took it inside for his wife to clean. His wife cleaned the outside of the jar up"and"down, but when she began to clean the inside with a brush, the jar was filled with brushes. No matter how many she took out, others kept taking their place. The man"and"his wife decided to sell the brushes,"and"as they had plenty of brushes, they would become wealthy people.
One day, the man dropped a coin, which fell into the jar by accident. Straight away, the brushes were gone"and"many coins appeared in the jar. More"and"more coins came out of the jar.
The man’s grandfather, who was very old"and"weak, was living with them. As there was very little that he could do, he had a task which was to take out the coins from the jar. The poor old man did this day"and"night,"and"when he got tired, he would stop working. The man was not happy with this, as he wanted more"and"more money.
Finally, one day, the old grandfather’s strength gave out. He fell down"and"died. As he died he fell into the jar. The coins were all gone at once the jar was full of dead grandfathers. The man had to pull them out. Each time he pulled out a dead grandfather, another one appeared. The man also needed to deal with all the grandfathers. Soon all the money from the jar was used up. No money, but a jar full of dead grandfathers! In his anger, the man kicked the jar"and"it broke into pieces. All the dead grandfathers went missing. As a result, the man was as poor as before.
