After-class reading

Read"and"choose the correct words to fill in the gaps.

Imagine you have just received the best, most exciting present for your birthday. It could / might be the latest iPhone that you wanted. Will you share it or keep it for your own use? Why should you share it? It is just for you, isn’t it? What’s the value in sharing?

From childhood, our parents always tell us to share with others. When we took our favourite dolls or cars into the corner to play with them by ourselves, not sharing them with other children, Mum would say, “Share, dear!”"And"if we didn’t"and"tried to hang on to our toy, our mother would take it away from us"and"give it to the other children. “You should learn to share,” she’d say. She did this because she didn’t want us to be selfish when we grew up.

We usually find that sharing with our friends is not difficult. What about sharing with people we don’t like, or even with people we don’t get along with? But we can do it if we try.

The benefits for us to share are greater than the disadvantages. We will become kinder people if we share.
