Johnny was a little boy of nine years old. One day, he came home from school looking so unhappy that his mother worried. “You don’t look happy today, Johnny. What’s wrong with you?” she asked. Out of his trousers pocket, Johnny took a note from Mrs Parsley. The note said, “Johnny is always causing trouble. Please have a serious talk with him.”
“What did you do?” asked his mother.
“Nothing,” said Johnny in a low voice, “except that the teacher asked a question"and"I was the only one in my class who could answer it.”
“Well …” said his mother, “What was the question?”
“Who put the dead snake in my handbag?” answered Johnny.
